holiday feelings

Go see the tree at 30 Rock • Brave the crowds, get a holiday card pic! Then hit the secret food court under the Plaza Hotel for lunch.

Bundle up and go ice skating •  Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Bryant Park, the Standard

Window shop • Barneys, Bergdorf, Tiffany, Bloomingdale’s, Henri Bendel, Saks, Lord & Taylor, and Macy’s will all have their holiday windows in full swing

Get an ornament at John Derian • Amanda's favorite home decor shop has the most amazing ornament selection.

Attend the Candlelight Service at St. George's • If you're staying Sunday night, Calvary’s sister church around the corner hosts an incredible holiday service 12/9 at 4pm at 7 Rutherford Place

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge • It might be chilly, but the views are worth it! Skip the pizza line and get Mexican at Gran Electrica once you get to the other side (probably best to make a resy)

Andy Warhol exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art • The first major Warhol survey since 1989 (you'll see a few more at the Gramercy Park Hotel :)

Bruce Nauman exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art • The biggest retrospective of his work

Delacroix exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art • The first-ever North American retrospective, in collab with the Louvre

Hilma af Klint exhibit at the Guggenheim • Klint was a pioneer in abstract painting, revolutionary, and Swedish

PLAYS + Shows

Off Broadway • Try a smaller theater downtown; search the NY Mag listings to find one.

Go see the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center • Yes, the ballet—get tickets here
